Jeff Zauberman has been practicing corporate and commercial law for over 30 years with an emphasis on all aspects of real estate transactions and secured lending. Close to 20 of those years were spent at two of Detroit’s largest law firms. He has also been involved in condemnation proceedings and the settlement of same working with various governmental authorities to effect advantageous settlements for his clients. Since his practice was for many years concentrated in the commercial banking arena, he has a wealth of experience counseling both lenders and borrowers in all aspects of commercial lending, including asset-based lending, term and line of credit financing, religious institution and school financing, bond transactions, loan purchase and sale transactions, mortgage loans including CMBS loans, and portfolio/multi-state loan transactions. Mr. Zauberman also has extensive bridge lending experience.
Mr. Zauberman’s real estate practice includes acquisition and divestment of commercial and industrial facilities, sale-leaseback transactions, assisting private equity funds in connection with real estate acquisition, finance and leasing matters in the context of acquisitions and sales various business enterprises, real estate secured distressed loan workouts, acquisitions of REO property and all aspects of real estate financing. Jeff is a skilled negotiator and highly adept at bringing a transaction over the finish line.
Prior to starting his legal practice in Detroit, Mr. Zauberman practiced in Toronto. He has been involved in numerous cross-border transactions between the US and Canada and was instrumental in the merger of one of the firms he was previously associated with and a prominent Windsor, Ontario firm resulting in seamless cross-border representation to clients of both of those law firms
Jeff holds law degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto and University of Detroit. In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Michigan he is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (the governing body of lawyers in the Province of Ontario).
